Class Kick

Class Kick is a wonderful tool to use in the classroom as a different way to make worksheets for your students.  In Class Kick there is a camera, microphone, text box, and pen tool for students to use to answer questions.  As the educator, you can insert screenshots of a PDF document into your slides instead of typing them out.  Also, the students raise their hand if they get stuck on a certain problem and the teacher can work with them right on their screen.  This feature works well with the online learning models COVID-19 has brought into our world.

This tech tool ties in well with domain 3d, 'Using Assessment in Instruction.'  Each page on a Class Kick can be assigned a point value, so it can be used as formative or summative assessment.  Assessing students' knowledge before, during, and after learning.  Also, having assessments in instruction allows students to learn from their mistakes before it is to late to correct them.

The hand raise feature on this tool is extremely helpful for learning.  When a student needs help, clicking lets the teacher and their peers know they are stuck.  If a student has a strong handle on the material, and they finish early, they can help their peer who is a bit behind.  Also, in the online classroom, this feature gives students a chance for the social interactions they have been missing with online school.

This tool also relates nicely to domain 4c, 'Communicating with Families.'  The format of Class Kick easily shows the educator what each student is struggling with.  The educator can then send home help sheets for that student to work through with their families.  These help sheets show the families their child need a bit more academic attention with the unit.
