Microsoft Certification

Below are my takeaways from two Microsoft Certification courses I took recently.

Digital Citizenship

  • Aligned with ITSE standard 1.2, they have created 'be statements' to follow in order to create safe digital citizenship.  They are, be online, public, personal, respectful, and perceptive.

  • Being public is teaching students to be aware that everything that they post online will be there forever.  Students must be extremely careful what they post.

  • Connecting with real, genuine people online helps lower anxiety rates, increase self-esteem, and increase empathy towards others.

Privilege & Fragility

  • Social identity is about a sense of self in how we identify ourselves in relation to other according to, but not limited to, race, religion, and gender.

  • Our identity can be found in our biological, cultural, and shared traditions.

  • Social exclusion can relegate people to the fringes of society resulting in poverty, lack of education, and discrimination.

  • Healthy accountability should be grounded in wholeness, complexity, and context each person's life.
